Homemade Gift Basket Ideas: Get Well For A Child
If you’re looking for get well homemade gift basket ideas for a child, here are some ideas for a sports related one. Normally children look for candy and treats when they receive a gift basket. Unfortunately, these treats aren’t necessarily the best gifts to give to children, due to the high sugar and fat content. The following is how I would prepare a gift sports basket. The total cost of the gift basket will be approximately $100.00. First, you’ll need to find the largest gift basket possible. Go to your local craft store, such as A.C. Moore, and look for a large wicker basket, the size of a laundry basket. This should cost about $20.00. Also make certain you pick up crepe paper and bows, preferably blue, white or red. This should cost around $5. Then head over to a local sporting goods store. Talk to the parents ahead of time, and find out which sporting team he likes. Then I would purchase a baseball hat and a T-Shirt from the team he likes. Total cost would be around $25.00. I also would get his favorite sports ball, a basketball, football, soccer ball, or baseball. One of these items would cost between $8-$25. Then head over to a drug store, or sports memorabilia shop. At these establishments, one can buy sporting cards, such baseball or football trading cards. These card packs will the child something to open, as part of the gift basket. Each of these packs of cards will cost between $1.50 and $2.00. Also these stores are great places to get sporting books and magazines. This will give the child something to read while they are getting better. Thoughtful gifts that are put together with the child in mind will be greatly received. Assemble the gift basket with the above items. Have the largest item in the middle, which would be the ball, and hat. Put the trading cards around these items. Lay the team shirt at the base of the gift basket. The last touch will be adding the crepe paper and bow.

Homemade Gift Basket Ideas For Halloween
Is there someone you know who you’d like to give a gift to this Halloween? Maybe a neighbor, your child or a scout troop leader? Here are some easy homemade gift basket ideas for creating a great personalized Halloween gift this year.
Start with a wicker basket. Check your paint supply and see if you have any orange or black spray paint. If not a quick run to the local home decor or paint store is in order. Buy a color it to match Halloween, which basically is orange or black. That little extra touch will go a long way!
Also, instead of a basket, you can also use one of those plastic orange pumpkins that children use for trick or treating. They even come with a handle already attached.
Line the bottom with some shredded orange or black paper. Use the opposite color if the container so it stands out. You can also use tissue paper or a Halloween napkin.
Spend a little time in your local discount store and pick up some Halloween or Fall theme accessories such as pens, pencils, erasers, notepads, key chains, mouse pads, earrings, pins and mugs to name just a few. Think about the person you’re giving it to and what they will use.
Check out your nearest bakery, or the bakery section of your supermarket for baked goods. If you have an bakery outlet near you, all the better! Look for pumpkin flavored muffins, cookies or any other baked goods that they might have.
Last, but definitely not least…CANDY!! What’s Halloween without some yummy candy! Pick up some traditional favorites like candy corn and chocolate shaped ghosts. There is so much of a variety in Halloween candy, it would be hard for you not to find something. Don’t forget to get some non-traditional Hallowen candy if you know the recipient likes it. Maybe they like a certain brand of candy bar or a particular flavor of gum. By all means, include some in their basket!
Halloween is a fun time of the year! Your gift should be fun also!
